Second Birth Assistants
B.C.M.W Second Assistants:
Elizabeth Bader: has over seven years of experience supporting women during pregnancy through massage therapy, doula services, and lactation education. She gave birth to a beautiful baby boy supported by 4 amazing women. Her experience becoming a mother has led her to help others through this powerful time in their lives. She received her doula training with Penny Simpkin through the Seattle Midwifery School. Her humor, compassionate nature, love and true understanding of the birth process has allowed her to support many Orange County couples seeking the birth of their dreams. Currently, she is attending West Coast University completing a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and due to graduate in the fall of 2012.
Elizabeth Soriano-Clark: believes a woman’s body is perfectly designed to birth their babies naturally, and is honored whenever I am invited to assist at a birth. In 2010, I became certified to teach Hypnobabies® Childbirth Hypnosis classes. I am a DONA-trained birth doula, a lactation educator (UCSD), and a local mentor for DiaperFreeBaby.org. I am the mother of two home-birthed children, and co-lead a breastfeeding support meeting every Wednesday afternoon in Costa Mesa.
Mette Dempster: grew up in Denmark where midwives are a natural part of the maternity care system. She came to the US in 2005 participating in an exchange program, fell in love with Dereck, now her husband, and decided to stay. I am currently a full time student working toward the goal of becoming a nurse-midwife. I wholeheartedly believe in pregnancy and birth as a normal, wonderful, and beautiful process, and that all women deserve to receive positive, supportive and empowering maternity care.
Jennifer Wheeler: Since 2007 she has been a DONA International Certified Birth Doula. Being deeply impacted by the support received during the labor and birth of her first child, she became aware of the necessity of nurturing labor support. Since then, she has the desired to be just that for other families. It is an honor and privilege to support women and their families through the lifelong memory of birthing a child. She joined Beach Cities Midwifery as a Birth Assistant in 2009 with the opening of the Birth Center. She received her BA degree in Psychology from Biola University in 2002. Married to her high school sweetheart and is a mother to two children birthed with Beach Cities Midwifery.
